If you haven't already done so, go on line and confirm your Membership information, look up other Congregants, view Yahrzeits, pay your Membership Commitment, make donations, sign up for events.  Click on Forgot ID or Password to get started!  For questions, contact the Temple Office.

We're Making it Easier for you to get to Services - Join us for Shabbat dinner!
August's dinner is before Shir Joy Friday, August 20 and we're having Chinese food!  Join us at 6:15 for grilled chicken/salmon, chow mein and stir fry catered by Wilma Lott.  $16 adults, $7.50 children (4 - 12)  Log in to our website and register on-line in the 'EVENT' section no later than Thursday, August 12 or send your check into the Temple Office.

We'll be having a Pizza dinner before September's Family Shabbat service on Friday, September 3.
$10 adults/$5 children. RSVPs due Tuesday, August 31 and can be done on-line also.

When sending your check to the Temple Office, please be sure to mark Shabbat dinner & date in the memo section.  We appreciate your understanding that we can not accept cancellations after the RSVP date.

HIGH HOLYDAYS ARE EARLY THIS YEAR!
"Renew" your membership if you have not already done so by returning your first payment.  Please complete the Oneg sign up form, place an ad in our Yiskor Memorial, 'join' Sisterhood and Brotherhood and let us know if you'd like to have a reading in one of the services.  High Holyday tickets will be sent later this month to all members in good standing.

Volunteers are needed to help with desserts for Selichot,  apples & honey for Rosh Hashanah, food for Break-the-Fast, and setting up and taking down the Sukkah.  Sign up now!

SCHOOL STARTS SEPTEMBER 12!
Please register your student on-line if you have not yet done so.
Our new Director of Education, Phil Hankin, has started and would love to meet you.  Contact Phil to set up an appointment or stop by!  If you are registering for the first time and have questions, please contact Judy Blum

Do you have Teenagers who want to be involved?
We need 8th - 12th graders as Madrichim in our school Sunday mornings and weekday afternoons.   All candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to work hard, enjoy working with young children, and are able to wear a friendly face at all times.  All must also be registered to attend one of the Jewish Community Federation of the East Bay supported Midrasha programs.  Have your student contact Phil Hankin by August 27 to set up a meeting.

CBT HAPPENINGS
Relay for Life! The annual 24 hour relay for the American Cancer Society takes place this weekend from 10 am Saturday - 10 am Sunday in Martinez.  Join CBT survivors and supporters by raising $ and walking.  Detailed information is available on our website or contact Phil Weismehl to sign up. 

Book Sisters has selected "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Strout for discussion over pot luck dinner at Rayna Ravitz's on Wednesday, August 25 at 6:30.  RSVP to Rayna.

CBT Book Group's discussion of "Badenheim 1939" by Aharon Appelfeld has been postponed until Sunday, September 26 from 3 -  5 pm in our Sukkah.  (Too many active readers were going to be out of town on the original August date!)

Taste of Walnut Creek!  Our 13th Annual Restaurant Walk is Tuesday, September 28. If you have a favorite downtown restaurant and can get them to participate, let us know and we'll get you the forms to sign them up!

 

COMMUNITY INFORMATION 
P'tach Libeynu, the Mental Health project of the Jewish community in Contra Costa County, offers a monthly social sharing and support group for family members of adults with severe mental illness.  Meetings are the 4th Monday of the month (August 23) at Temple Isaiah beginning at 7 pm.  Check their new website for more information.
